Piaggio P180 Avanti II

When cost matters as much as style and performance, the Piaggio P180 Avanti II is the obvious solution with the speed of a business jet delivered by a turbo prop along with the comfort and quiet of a business jet’s luxurious midsized cabin. Additionally, the fuel efficiencies of the Avanti II are almost forty percent higher than the more traditional business jets and even twenty-five percent higher than the most fuel efficient turbo-props. The Avanti II is truly in a class by itself.

The Avanti II is a culmination of efforts by engineers to design an aircraft that delivers jet-like speed, a wide body, a cabin with room to stand and the efficiency of a turbo prop. Through many designs and evolutions, the Avanti II has evolved to an aircraft with an appearance unlike anything seen previously. Piaggio P180 Avanti

Countless hours in wind tunnels and comprehensive style designs led engineers to reject traditional designs and incorporate the Piaggio patented Three-Lifting-Surface Configuration (3LSC) which allows for a reduction of thirty-four percent in wing surface reducing drag and resistance. The unusual non-cylindrical shape of the fuselage helps to reduce drag as well.

Despite the visual differences that set the Avanti II apart from the competition, there is much about the cockpit that reassures pilots including popular systems, aluminium construction and conventional flight controls.

The Pratt & Whitney, Canada PT6A-66B engines used on the aircraft provide the power necessary for the aircraft to reach 41,000 feet in elevation as well as a cruising speed of 0.7 Mach at 34,000 feet. With a range of 1,800 nm and the ability to take off and land on less than 1800 feet of runway, the Avanti II is an ideal craft for versatile business travel. The aircraft seats 6-9 passengers and two crew members as well.

Inside the cockpit, the Avanti II features a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Electronic Flight Instrument System. The system includes three 8”x10” color liquid crystal adaptive flight displays, two display control panels, a cursor control panel, integrated avionics processor system, and four data concentrator units.

Inside the cabin, there is ample room for passengers to move with a ceiling height of five feet and nine inches. The six feet of cabin width is over a foot wider than other jets in this size category. There are countless upgrades available in the cabin, but oversized reclining seats and thick wool carpet make the interior quiet and luxurious. The cabin has a fully enclosed lavatory as well.

Other features of the Piaggio P 180 Avanti II include:

A satellite based FMS 3000 flight management system
AHS 3000 attitude heading reference system
0.84 nm per pound of fuel
Take-off distance of 2,850
Landing distance of 2860
